Reflecting on the Past 12 Months
What a year it has been!
Twelve months ago, Klein Wolwas was still very much a work in progress. There were plenty of ideas, plenty of plans — and, as it turns out, plenty of digging, planting, building and fixing still to do!
Since then, the tunnels have started filling with vegetables, the nursery has taken shape, and our delivery van has become a familiar sight on the road. We’ve grown, harvested, experimented, made a few mistakes, and learned a lot along the way.
And then there’s the team behind it all — mostly Grant and Claire, with a little help from family, friends and the occasional willing farm worker. There have been early mornings, muddy boots, long days and more than a few moments of “Surely there must be an easier way to do this?”
But watching something grow from an idea into something real makes it all worthwhile.
Perhaps the biggest lesson of the past year is that farming is never really finished. There is always another crop to plant, another problem to solve and another idea waiting around the corner.
And so, as spring arrives and we start putting the next season into the ground, we're looking forward to another year of growing good food, learning as we go, and enjoying the journey.
Here's to the next 12 months at Klein Wolwas! 🌱
Come along for the ride — we have a feeling there will be plenty more growing, harvesting and probably a little bit of chaos along the way.
